The second last round of the 2018 Enduro World Series was held in Ainsa, Spain this past weekend. 2015 was the last time the series was held there, and Damien Oton came in 3rd spot. The Catalan Eagle was looking to repeat his performance.

Keegan Wright had just returned from Red Bull Hardline where he slightly injured himself overshooting the massive step-down. All taped-up, he challenged this 7th EWS of the season.

The bone dry and dusty trails of the Zona Zero EWS were extremely challenging since they were all very physical and technical. The temperature added a lot to the race’s level of difficulty. The 30°C and over, plus the burning sun took their toll on many riders. Hats off to all those who competed during the weekend.

The weekend kicked off with an urban prelude through the old medieval streets of Ainsa. The bike prologue did not count in the overall score of the race so riders took it easy and gave a super show to the great Spanish crowd.

A completely dry and dusty EWS is fairly rare today. Yet there wasn’t a single drop of rain the whole weekend. This made life easier for the mechanic!

“We didn’t have a single issue with the bikes this week. The weather was on our side and both riders were very smooth on the equipment! I was expecting a bit more of a carnage from Keegan after seeing some of the stages earlier this week! Ha-ha!” Vincent Poliseno, Team Mechanic

Damien managed to remain consistent throughout the entire race and scored in the top 5 finishes in almost every stage. He felt quite at home on these trails.

“I’m super happy with how I rode here. The trails were really like what I train on and I love this kind of terrain! A 3rd place at this point in the season is very good! I’m conserving my 3rd place overall in the series going into Finale. Next week should be good as well.”Damien Oton

Keegan was happy with his result here in Ainsa. His ankle restrained him a bit on stage 1 but he managed to get through the whole race with some solid stage results.

“I was very stoked to challenge myself on these very physical and demanding stages. 25th is a result that I’m happy with, but not 100% content, so this gives me some confidence going into the Finale Ligure!” – Keegan Wright

The 7th round of the Enduro World Series was good for our boys and we hope to conclude this long season on a higher note in Finale Ligure for the final round of the series.

“I am very pleased with the team’s performances this week! Dam and Keeg rode like they know how to do it and they smiled the whole week so I’m happy as well! We are heading to Finale tomorrow morning and we can’t wait. We strongly remember that Damien took the win there last year,” – Bastien Major, Team Manager
