World Cup Maribor Race 1: Dakotah & Jure in Top-15

“Sunday” on Friday in Maribor was great! Both Dakotah and Jure were fast all week long and kept it cool all the way to the final runs! Dak was 12th, Jure was very close behind him in 15th.

First of the two races in Maribor are behind us and we’re happy to report that we earned quite a big chunk of bragging rights. Dakotah & Jure were right there at the top throughout the week, from the first practice on the relatively dry and super fast track to the qualies in the heavy rain, all the way to the finals. Team isn’t falling behind, guys did a great job in the paddock and on the track, made sure that the Wilsons HP are fast as a rocket and we found all of the good lines.

Track in Maribor is a classic track with tons of natural sections and hard technical stuff like the famous Rock’n’Roll. We know it well – we also did testing here – so that gave us a good base for the start of the week. Dakotah is for now faster of the two, setting 8th time of the qualies and taking 12th place in the finals. Jure is also very fast on the home track and took 15th in both qualies and the finals.

“I went out there and had strong performance. Of course I can always ask for more and always wish for more and to be further up the results list. I’m pretty grateful to be out there racing with the best dudes in the world and be able to put it inside top-15 and be protected for next race. Ready to get more quali points tomorrow. It’s just good to be out here. Conditions are super challenging and easily couldn’t go my way, so I’m happy to be on the positive side of it.” – Dakotah Norton

“I made a mistake on the first right corner. I hit a pole and then slide out of the line and didn’t carry good speed. First split was bad, but I stayed focused and did better and better towards the finish line. Overall I’m happy with the result.” – Jure Žabjek

There is no time to rest, the next race starts tomorrow. Track for the Race 2 will be somewhat changed and there’s going to be less practice, so again a new ballgame. The confidence level is now higher and both have more to show, so we look forward to the “real” Sunday!
